    Description

So here’s the story: when he was nine years old, David’s mother took him to the 1940 Golden Gate Exposition on Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay. For a souvenir, she bought him a 1940 GGIE ring, which he wore proudly for some time afterward. Then one day he looked down and saw that where it used to say 1940, it now said 1939. What happened? Apparently leftover souvenir rings from the 1939 Expo were updated for 1940 by gluing on a little medallion with an updated logo, and the medallion on David’s ring had fallen off! Here is that tiny stick-on medallion, only 3/8” in diameter, apparently silkscreened in brown and cream on copper. Could this be the smallest GGIE collectible ever? Reasonably good vintage condition. The ring itself is long lost.
