Description
Maker: Both pieces of this lovely cup and saucer set have the black anchor mark of Royal Chelsea, a trade name of the New Chelsea Porcelain Co. Ltd. of Staffordshire, England. The company produced beautiful pottery from 1912 until 1951, when it was sold to Susie Cooper Pottery Ltd., later associated with the classic English maker Wedgwood.
The company used the "Royal Chelsea” mark from about 1943.
Design
: The pattern features a striking design of vivid green leaves outlined in gold against a pure white bone china background.
The pattern number 4940A appears on the reverse of the saucer.
Size
: The cup is 3 1/8 inches in diameter and 2 7/8 inches tall. The saucer is 6 1/8 inches in diameter.
Condition
: Both pieces are in excellent condition with no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, crazing, stains or repairs.
