Description

During Victorian and Edwardian times, after dinner, gentlemen left the ladies and gathered to smoke their cigars and share a drink. In order to spare the ladies the smell of smoke gentlemen would frequently don their "smoking jacket and smoking cap" which could be removed, along with the smoke smell.
Civil War reenactors enjoy wearing the warm caps on a cool evening around the campfire. Steam punk, Edwardian, cigar club members, or any distinguished gentleman, will enjoy the cap. Smoking caps are a great accessory, suitable for many eras and uses.
These caps are all sized large. The round caps are about 25-26"" in circumference, and about 3 to 3 3/4" tall. All are made of period correct fabrics, (except as noted). They have an inner lining of quilt batting, for warmth, and are lined with a comfortable cotton or flannel lining. These are new, unused caps, from Turtle Run Mercantile.

#1 (Pictures 1 & 2)
Ruby red 100% cotton velveteen embroidered with
a gold metallic laurel leaf design in a cross-hatch pattern. The cap is decorated with a large tassel and gold cord. The lining is warm, tan colored flannel.
#2 (Pictures 3 & 4)
Silky brocade in gold with complex designs in pale green. It has an over-sized gold Oriental style silk-like rayon triple tassel held in place with an intricate know and small urn shaped tabs with embroidered bright pink flowers.  The plastic button which has the look of ivory framed with antique gold.
The lining is warm and comfortable bright gold 100% cotton flannel.

#3 (Pictures 5 & 6) 100% wool cap in a plain weave tan. The silk-look rayon tassel is gold. It is attached to the cap with a large antiqued
heraldic shield design in brass colored metal.
There is a wide band of decorative, silk-look woven cord around the body of the cap. The lining is tan broadcloth.
#4 (Pictures 7 & 8). A handsome ethnic look 100% wool woven in diamonds and stripes. The background is maroon and grey with stripes of brown, maroon, white, gold and green. The long gold tassel is silk-look rayon, held in place with a heraldic shield design brass metal button. The cap is lined with dark red broadcloth.
#5 (Pictures 9 & 10). 100% wool in stripes of dark brown alternating with stripes in a subtle mixture of beige and reddish brown.  The cap is decorated with a hand-made 100% cotton tassel in medium brown. The button is a metal-look button with a brown enamel like center surrounded with waves of copper and brown. The cap is lined with maroon 100% cotton flannel.
#6 (Pictures 11 &12) . 100% wool Black Watch tartan plaid win royal blue, forest green and and black. The cap is decorated with a single cord in royal blue silk-look rayon with a matching tassel and a small puff with a textured gold colored metal button. It is lined with warm, royal blue flannel.
